    My Dear Son

…I wish everything was cleared that you could see and get what is best for you. I was thinking if it only took two more years to make you a polished surgeon as you call it wouldn't it be worth the time in your future life to be able to be on par or above any that is considered the biggest or most renowned doctors of today. One thing I would advise you to do after you get started making money is to have more pleasure in life, not spend your life and time for others. Your life is more precious to you than anyone else. It is only once you go through life. Of course you have got to get a start first but when you have accomplished that. I would never sacrifice my life for others like so many are doing (Mrs. Pankhurst etc). People are not worth it.…

We would like for all to be together but I think that is our best way and if you don't get good meals just go out and get them. It is all Pa thinks about is eating and something good to eat. We sure get good fruits and vegetables and bread and butter here. I have got such a nice little stove and everything very handy. So don't worry about us. Look out for yourself and your best interest. Goodbye and God bless my dear boy.

    Your loving Mother
