    My Dear Son

    …I was going to say something about the picture I sent but Pa has covered that pretty well. But really I do want you to tell us candidly what you think of her. I wrote and told her I had sent it to you so I expect she will be anxious to hear what you think of it. You can write what you think and send it here and we will send it to her, or we can give you her address and you can write any way that you see fit. Pa has got you into it and he wants you to straighten it out, any way that is satisfactory to you.

    Well we had a nice walk to Holloway Jail yesterday. That is the jail where they put theese militant Suffragettes when they won't behave themselves. It is a dismal looking place. They would not let us go through unless we had some friends there. I think we were fortunate that we hadn't.

    We walked about 6 miles and then went to a meeting after we came back. This is the Americans last week of meetings. I think I have told you about them. The singer looks a good deal like you. We often remark how much he looks like you. Of course he is not as nice looking. 600 have professed conversions. I think they are going to Scotland next.…

    The preacher was making fun of the little engines they have here. When they landed in Liverpool, the little boy went to see the engines and he was laughing. The father said Harold what are you laughing at. He says Papa that is like my little toy engine. He was telling what fine engines they had in America and fine coaches. We used to laugh at them when we came here but we have got used to them now. They ought to see the Flyers shouldn't they?

    How did that man get along that was so badly cut with an engine? Did he live? Do you help in brain surgery? I would like to see you get that position. How about that PhD? When will you get it.…
