    My Dear Son,

    Your letter for this week has not arrived yet. It won't be your fault. I have an idea it is the boat late in reaching here. I expect you don't have much time to write and so late when writing that you forget to answer so many things we would like to know. Of course we have nothing else to think about and sometimes forget you have so many things to think about that it is pretty hard to remember everything. Pa would like to know if you went to Philadelphia that time to test your cures on the baby. He has asked several times but you forgot to tell him. It is a wonder you keep so well to work so hard and keep such late hours. You must be strong to stand it. I would like to see you have a little more leisure.…
