    Well My Dear Boy,

    …Glad to hear you are well and satisfied with lots of work.… It was especialy satisfying to me to learn that awer boy had so mastered his chosen profession, that he was the means of saving the life of this person being operated on by Dr. Heuer when he encountered so much blood and could not stop it. This should be gratifying to you who is so anxious to do something that others can't and should give you encouragement to persevere coupled with confidence in your ability and future success.…

    I see in the daily papers that Ellen Gould is visiting London with her husband. I went to hear lecture last night given by Mr. Sanders on socialism and morality and it was fine. He is a great reasoner. Questions are asked at finish of lecture and afterward discusion permited. I enjoyed it well. But the Boss says she don't like me to bother with socialism. She wants to keep her own money invested and live on her own interest. So the problem is not to be settled between us. She wants one thing. I want another. And it so occurs that we can't both have awer wishes without interferring with the other. I suggest I won't interfere with her on anything that don't interfere with me and for her to give me the same consessions as I have given her. But this don't quite suite her ideas. In its finality which do you think will be Boss.…
