    My Dear Son,

    …Well we have sold our house so you won't have to come to 1323 any more. I am rather glad of it. And if we don't sell 15th we will go there. I want to keep my chickens. I don't see any thing down town to want to live there.… I think it is best to go there. We pulled the carpet up in your room to let Ervie put some furniture he had bought in there.

    Mamie Cahill is moving out of Meyers house this week. She wants us to rent it. I want something different to that little house. I do not mind living in my own where I have lived so long, but I don't want to rent another little house and pay as much as I get for our own nice clean house.

    Gornals want to sell and Cravens want to sell.

    Some people think we sold too cheap. Miller says it is worth $1,200. Miller sold all his cows. He is out of the milk business now. Sold 8 cows. He has had a hard winter ploding [plodding] through mud and snow.

    We are both pleased you want to keep your own watch. You could not get anything nicer. Papa said if you got another watch he would keep this one for your little boy. But that is a long way off from your last account. If you wait as long as Papa that is soon enough for a young man. I notice these young married men are all looking very mature. Appreciate youth and single life. Moses Donnelly is looking old.…
