    Well My Boy,

    We just got your letter of the first. You intended it to catch the Mauratania but I think you was to late. I had not expected it thinking you would not have time to see Dr. Halsted and thought shure when it did not come on the Mauratania you had delayed in order to see what your destiny looked like or rather your immediate destiny. Mama is very anxious to see the pictures taken during your vacation. And I don't think they will be all alike. I rather think she will pay special attention to one of them and then exclaim what a sweet boy. Then give it a kiss. But I don't think any of the others will get such a warm reception.…

    It is a pitty to bring Mama back to America. She has felt so good here. But she is not quite satisfied without her boy. It is just one year yesterday since we landed in England but don't look more than a few months.…

    Say the Appeal predicts another money panic in the U.S.A. before long. I think I will send it to you so you can see it for yourself. It might be well for you and Tom Lawson to read before you interfere to much with Wall Street. I will not do much more writing as the Boss wants the pen and we want this to catch the Mauratania in A.M. So will close believing you have got just what you should have from Dr. Halsted and trust you are satisfied with same.

    P.S. The doctors are haveing quite a time here with the Government Insurance Act. They are trying the syndicealist methods to good advantage. They have just started new Labor paper here that seems good to me. If you have time you will see pieces in regarding the doctors.…

    This is a great excuse of Pa's all the time (the Boss is going to write, or the Boss wants the pen or some other thing. I guess you are getting about tired of his excuses aint you. Tell him to find a fresh excuse as the old one is rather stale). What do you say. Hurry with those pictures. I want to see them and also lots of good news.…
