    My Dear Boy,

    …We were out walking today and of course I stoped to look at a window that she did not want to see and she says come on you have lots of time to look at them when I don't come with you. But on the days I go out without her I am instructed to hurry and get back so you see the delema I am in. You might profit by this when you get married if you start early and be Boss instead of being Bossed. I was to easy at the start and now I can't help it. But I might expect her to be bossy. She is feeling and looking so good. Never saw her better.

    But she is very sorry when I tell her the Pacific stock is down to 25½. She says poor boy, we will have to send him some money. I wish he had waited till now, but it might be a good lesson for him.…

    We have decided that you are going to get $2500 salary under Dr. Halsted as resedent, so you see how far we miss it as they must have you for research work. Then if you get that for a year or two you will get Dr. Halsteds place. Won't that be fine. Then you can get married.

    I hope you did not forget to tell me how you liked the looks of the picture I had sent you. I look for reply to it on Tuesday.

    Well I see in the papers where Dr. Sir Victor Horsley has declared for woman sufferage. He was intending runing for Member of Parlement as liberal candadate and they don't like it but he is very popular and they don't know what to do.

    I admire the way President Wilson is conducting the Mexican question, but I think he will yet have to fight them to make them behave themselves. But by waiting they continue to waste their powder and shot on themselves, thereby makeing both men and material less for the Americans to face, but I am afraid other powers will force him to act before long.…

    The Bryan lectures are fine. Some of the English papers criticise him for lecturing for pay, yet theese M.P.s hunt and loaf, etc., both give the nation no good advice or help to solve the nations wrongs and there are many. So I think Bryan has chosen the better part.…
