  • Neurosurgery is a field of passion, dedication, commitment, risk, reward, and failure. For many, it’s a calling and privilege to care for others at their most vulnerable moments, and it’s hard. While giving our best to care for our clients, we often suffer mental and physical stressors of our own. Up to 51% of neurosurgeons experience burnout, decreased enjoyment, and energy at work. Many also experience symptoms such as fatigue, sleeplessness, irritability, poor diet, and pain. We cannot get rid of the realities of our day-to-day life, but we can learn to manage them better, with simple, consistent health and wellness practices and a commitment to the fact that better does exist, and that better really matters for us all.
