Course Description:

The CNS SANS Written Board Review Course prepares neurosurgery residents for the ABNS Primary Examination. Using SANS questions that have been specifically selected for this course, expert faculty cover the breadth of all subspecialty and general neuro topics included on the Written Boards Exam. This single day intensive review course provides didactic lectures covering the full scope of the exam topics, including discussions of neuroanatomy, neurobiology, neuropathology, neuroimaging, neurology, neurosurgery, critical care, and core competencies - from synaptic physiology to cranial nerve anatomy to complex spine surgery. 

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to:

• Describe the surgical and non-surgical management of tumors, vascular malformations, trauma, pain, and other pathological processes that affect the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, the autonomic nervous system, the supporting structures of these systems, their vascular supply, and their histopathology.
• Discuss the use and interpretation of images associated with surgical and non-surgical conditions that may be encountered in neurosurgical practice.
• Discuss and analyze neurodegenerative processes and their management.
