CNS Leadership Institute Program

Event Date:

Friday, May 10, 2019 (All day) to Saturday, May 11, 2019 (All day)

About the Event:

The CNS Leadership Institute Program is designed to empower neurosurgeons with the information and skills needed to shape their careers and lead their departments, groups, hospitals, and health systems in today’s challenging healthcare environment.

The program offers a series of live courses for specific career stages that are designed to impart leadership skills and business acumen required to engage with hospital administrators, industry, and healthcare partners. The program also provides a suite of ancillary tools, online learning, and mentorship and leadership opportunities that not only help CNS Leadership Fellows expand their skills, but apply them in real practice challenges. Leadership in Healthcare Courses for 2019 include the following:

CNS LEADERSHIP IN HEALTHCARE COURSE

This two-day intensive training course is taught by leaders in the field of healthcare. The course is accelerated so CNS Leadership participants may identify a problem affecting their department, their institution, or healthcare nationally, and have the opportunity to address it within one year. Participants are expected to view periodic webinars and attend a follow-up session at the CNS Annual Meeting where they share progress on their challenges, and provide feedback and ideas for moving forward.

VANGUARD LEADERSHIP IN HEALTHCARE COURSE

Geared toward emerging neurosurgical leaders, this more advanced program addresses best practices for common organizational challenges facing medical centers in an evolving healthcare delivery environment and equips surgeons to engage in meaningful dialog with administrators to reach mutually beneficial solutions. The course will introduce analytical tools and provide a forum for facilitated discussion to provide real-world decision scenarios faced by administrative and neurosurgical leaders. Through small-group discussion and application exercises, participants will apply the learning to challenges they face at their home institutions.
