    Course Description

    The 2026 Advanced Practice Provider Course in Neurosurgery is a comprehensive, virtual educational program designed to provide Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) with both foundational knowledge and advanced clinical insight into the care of neurosurgical patients. Delivered over three interactive sessions July 15, 22, and 29, this course offers a structured, practical approach to evaluating, diagnosing, and managing common neurosurgical conditions across a variety of clinical settings.

    Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Perform a focused neurosurgical neurological examination and correlate findings with underlying neuroanatomy.
    • Interpret basic neuroimaging (CT and MRI) using a systematic approach to identify common neurosurgical pathologies.
    • Apply evidence-based principles to evaluate and manage neurosurgical patients in acute, perioperative, and critical care settings.
    • Demonstrate appropriate clinical decision-making for common neurosurgical procedures and subspecialty conditions, including recognition of complications and need for escalation of care.

    What APP and Nurse Attendees Need to Do to Earn Credit

    To use a CNS Certificate of Attendance for certification or licensure purposes, APPs and nurses should:

    • Attend the full activity and complete any required evaluations
    • Download or retain the Certificate of Attendance issued by CNS
    • Self‑submit the activity to the appropriate certifying or licensing organization (e.g., NCCPA or state board of nursing), following that organization’s instructions
    • Retain the certificate for the current and previous certification or licensure cycles in case of audit
