CNS Leadership in Healthcare Program

Empowering a New Generation of Neurosurgical Leaders

Succeeding in today’s complicated healthcare environment requires more than just surgical skill and clinical expertise. Neurosurgeons must also speak the language of hospital decision makers and develop skills to lead cross functional teams, or they risk surrendering control of their practice to those who step up as leaders. The CNS Leadership in Healthcare program empowers junior attending neurosurgeons with the information and skills needed to shape their own careers and lead their departments, groups, hospitals, and health systems in a time of rapid change.

CNS Leadership in Healthcare Program Application

The CNS Leadership in Healthcare program features a two-day intensive training course to help neurosurgeons develop leadership skills required to engage with hospital administrators, industry, and healthcare partners. The course is taught by leaders in the field of healthcare, and is accelerated so that the CNS fellows identify a problem affecting their department, their institution, or healthcare nationally, and address it in the year with feedback and periodic webinars.

Eligibility criteria:

The Leadership in Healthcare program is designed for neurosurgeons within seven years of completing residency. Preference will be given to those who have been practicing for at least three years and have been identified by their program chair or other mentor as having strong leadership potential.
