There are four general considerations for nominees to the CNS Officer or Executive Committee positions:
- Must be a neurosurgeon who is, at the time of selection, an active physician engaged in some aspect of neurosurgery.
- Should have demonstrated experience and involvement in regional, state, or national neurosurgical societies.
- Must be CNS Active member in good standing.
- Must be willing and able to devote the time and effort necessary to discharge the duties of the position.
Eligible candidates for Officer positions in the CNS (President-Elect, Vice President, and Treasurer) include members who have served for at least three (3) years on the CNS Executive Committee.
All CNS Active Members are eligible for the position of Member-at-Large. Nominees to this position are likely to have served the CNS on Standing Committees, the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies (CSNS), and/or AANS/CNS Joint Section Committees in the past, but such service is not a mandatory prerequisite for nomination. Resident Members of the CNS may be considered for the position of Member-at-Large if they meet the above general considerations.
Please note: Per CNS Bylaws, no person shall be elected as an Officer or Member-at-Large after such person reaches the age of forty-nine (49) years.
