Schaumburg, Ill, May 28, 2026 – The Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and Neurosurgery Publications are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. David Cote as the 2026-2027 Neurosurgery Publications Resident Fellow.
Dr. Cote was selected after a thorough review of all applications received by the Selection Committee.
Dr. Cote is a neurosurgery resident at Los Angeles General Medical Center and the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College, graduating magna cum laude with a BS in chemistry and theology. There, he was awarded the Finnegan award, given annually to the top undergraduate student, and was co-winner of the Tully award for best paper on a theological topic for his thesis research on ethical issues related to HIV/AIDS in Kenya. He then worked as administrative assistant to Dr. Edward Laws in the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He completed his MD at Harvard Medical School and his PhD in Population Health Sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with Dr. Meir Stampfer, where his thesis research identified novel behavioral and environmental risk factors for benign and malignant brain tumors, and was supported by an independent fellowship grant from the NIH.
Dr. Cote’s research interests lie broadly in the epidemiology of benign and malignant brain tumors, including identification of novel behavioral, environmental, and genetic risk factors that affect distribution of these tumors in populations. His clinical research has focused mostly on patient outcomes after skull base surgery.
“I am grateful to have been selected as this year’s Neurosurgery Publications Resident Fellow and look forward to working with leaders in our field to learn more about the curation and dissemination of the most critical research in neurosurgery. I am also honored to have been given the responsibility of representing neurosurgical trainees in this role, and I look forward to serving as a liaison between the journal and junior scientists,” said Dr. Cote.
“We are delighted to keep the tradition of the Neurosurgery Resident Publications Fellow. As with every year, we received many superb applicants. We look forward to giving Dr. Cote this unique opportunity. The Resident Fellow Program is an important initiative to integrate our Fellows into the peer review process and provide valuable insight into general publication management,” said Dr. Douglas Kondziolka, Editor-in-Chief, Neurosurgery Publications.
Congratulations to Dr. Cote!
