Congress of Neurological Surgeons: Internet Usage Policy

The Congress of Neurological Surgeons acknowledges that the Internet is a powerful tool for the worldwide collection and dissemination of information. As such, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons recognizes the importance of aggressive use of this medium to fulfill the educational, scientific, and humanitarian missions of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Because of the numerous opportunities for use and misuse of the Internet, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons also recognizes the importance of developing guidelines for its use of the Internet. These guidelines have been developed to ensure that the Congress of Neurological Surgeons uses the Internet only for the purpose of fulfilling its educational, scientific, and humanitarian missions.

With regard to Internet sites owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons:

  1. All material posted on the Internet by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons will be in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
  2. All material posted on the Internet by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons will be in furtherance of the educational, scientific, and humanitarian missions of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons
  3. The Congress of Neurological Surgeons will protect the privacy of individuals viewing material which has been posted for public viewing on the Internet on Congress of Neurological Surgeons sites, except where this policy would conflict with local, state, or federal law.
  4. Appropriate advertising material will be allowed on Congress of Neurological Surgeons Internet sites, so long as this material does not conflict with the missions of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, or its Code of Ethics.
  5. Advertising material will be clearly identified as such within Internet sites operated by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
  6. Internet sites operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons will clearly post the following disclaimer: "The inclusion of a paid advertisement within an Internet site operated by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons does not constitute an endorsement by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons or its members."
  7. Material posted on the Internet on sites owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, unless clearly identified as advertising material, will not result in, or be construed to result in, financial gain for any individual or group of individuals.
  8. All material posted on Internet sites owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons is copyrighted property of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and is not to be reproduced in any fashion without the express, written permission of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

With regard to Internet sites not operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons:

  1. The Congress of Neurological Surgeons may contribute listings, content, and other material deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee to Internet sites not owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, so long as this action does not conflict with the educational, scientific, and humanitarian missions of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
  2. The Congress of Neurological Surgeons may contribute listings, content, and other material deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee to Internet sites not owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, so long as this action does not conflict with the Code of Ethics of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
  3. The Congress of Neurological Surgeons will protect the privacy of its Members when contributing material to Internet sites not owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, except where this policy would conflict with local, state, or federal law.
  4. Material posted on Internet sites not owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons will clearly post the following disclaimer: "The inclusion of this material does not constitute an endorsement by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons or its members."
  5. All material posted on Internet sites not owned or operated by or on behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons is copyrighted property of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and is not to be reproduced in any fashion without the express, written permission of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • Contact information, such as your name, home and business address, telephone number, or email address is used for our membership directory.
  • The Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) does offer a "Mailing List Rental". The Renter agrees that the CNS Membership Mailing List, and any part of, is the sole property of the CNS. The Renter MUST submit a sample of the mailing information to the CNS with each order. The sample is subject to approval before the list is rented. The CNS reserves the right to refuse any rental request. The Renter understands that all name and addresses are provided for a one-time use only. By signing the agreement, the Renter guarantees that the names and addresses will not be copied, reused, sold, reproduced or used for the something other than for specific agreement or approval material.
  • The CNS will not share home addresses, home telephone numbers or email addresses without the consent of the user.

Choice/Opt-Out

  • This site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from www.neurosurgeon.org at the point where we request information about the visitor.
  • This site gives visitors the following options for removing their information from our database to not receive future communications or to no longer receive our service.
  • You can opt-out by filling out our form.
