The Congress of Neurological Surgeons Members are innovators and pioneers in neurosurgery and neurosurgical education. The CNS Membership is made up of eleven membership types, eight of which are open for new applications.

Practicing Neurosurgeons in the US, Canada or Mexico.

Resident

Residents in approved North American Neurosurgical Residency Programs.

Medical Student

Students in approved North American Medical Schools.

Associate

Non-Neurosurgeon Physicians and Researchers in Neuro-related disciplines.

Affiliate

Nurses, Physician Assistants and other Physician Extenders in Neuro-related disciplines.

Transitional

Former Resident Members who are within one year of graduation and are in the process of transitioning to Active status.

Honorary

Honorary Membership may be granted to certain individuals whom the Executive Committee selects without reference to the foregoing qualifications.

Senior

Former Active or International members, ages 65 and older, who have retired from practice or limited their practice.

Inactive

Former Active or International members, under age 65, who have retired from practice or limited their practice due to illness, injury or other circumstances.
