CNS Resident SANS Challenge
The CNS Resident SANS Challenge consists of three phases:
- An online qualifying round in July.
- A preliminary round of nine programs.
- A championship round of the winners from each preliminary round.
Each year, over 100 residents from over 40 programs in the US, Canada and Mexico
complete the pretest during a qualifying round. Then, the top nine programs are
selected based upon a program score obtained by combining the top two resident scores.
Each program then selects a two-player team from their residents who took the online
exam. The top nine teams will then compete live in the preliminary game show-style
competition where, again, questions will be based on SANS content. The preliminary
rounds will take place on the Sunday during the Annual Meeting. The winning team
from each of these three rounds will then move on to compete in the championship
round, which will be held Tuesday evening of the Annual Meeting. The top three teams
will compete for a cash prize of up to $2500 for their program!
The CNS Resident SANS Challenge is a great way to test your neurosurgical knowledge,
decision-making skills and earn an opportunity to compete in the live rounds at
the upcoming CNS Annual Meeing. Each year your Residency Program can contend for
trophies, cash for your program and most importantly, bragging rights as the CNS
Resident SANS Challenge Champion!
Congratulations to the 2009 CNS Resident SANS Challenge Champions!
